I haven't used this printer in a while, so my guess is that the ink may be dry/clogged? However, I've tried cleaning/aligning/"clearing the smudges" 3 times in the past hour, and still, nothing is printing, even though I have ink. Please help. Everything is up to date as well.

Hi @power36113
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP ENVY 5055 is printing blank pages despite having ink, it's likely that the ink cartridges are clogged or there’s another issue. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the problem:
1. Check Ink Levels:
- Even if the printer says there’s ink, double-check the ink levels in the HP Smart app or the printer’s control panel to ensure that they are indeed sufficient.
2. Perform a Print Head Cleaning:
- Use the printer’s built-in cleaning utility:
- Go to the HP Smart app or the printer's control panel.
- Look for Printer Maintenance or Tools and select Clean Printhead.
- This process can help clear any clogs.
3. Print a Self-Test Page:
- Try printing a self-test page to check if the issue is with the printer or the document you’re trying to print:
- From the control panel, go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Print Quality Report.
4. Check for Air Bubbles:
- If the cartridges have been idle for a while, air bubbles can form. Remove the cartridges and gently shake them side to side (not up and down) to distribute the ink.
5. Remove and Reinsert Cartridges:
- Turn off the printer, remove the ink cartridges, and then reinsert them firmly to ensure they are seated correctly.
6. Check Nozzles:
- Inspect the print head and nozzles for dried ink. If needed, clean them gently with a lint-free cloth or a cotton swab dipped in warm water (make sure to let it dry before reinserting).
7. Update or Reinstall Drivers:
- Ensure your printer drivers are up to date. You can download the latest drivers from the HP Support website.
8. Reset the Printer:
- Power off the printer, unplug it from the wall for a minute, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes resolve temporary glitches.
9. Test with New Cartridges:
- If possible, try installing new ink cartridges to see if that resolves the issue. Sometimes, cartridges can fail even when they appear full.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi @power36113,
Thank you for your response. I understand the printer is printing blank pages. According to the information you provided, this seems like a hardware issue. Reinstalling the printer driver will not help.
Try making a standalone copy in black and color to check if that prints fine. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.
Clean the ink cartridges up to 2 times and print a print quality report as shown in this document - No black ink, wrong colors, other print quality issues
You may insert one ink cartridge at a time and try printing/copying to identify the defective ink cartridge.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
