HP ENVY 6430e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a problem with cartridge usage for my newly purchased HP Envy 6430e. I only print a few lines per page, but after a while I get the Ink Low message on HP Smart, and soon after I get a cartridge or account error message, and printer will only print again after I put a new cartridge in. The problem is that the current cartridge has lots of ink left i it. Tried power off/on, and also resetting back to factory settings, but it still will not let me use the cartridge with lots of ink left in it. How do I get to use up all the ink in the cartridge.  Many thanks for any assistance.

@tonyjacko3, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Based on the issue described with the HP ENVY 6430e All-in-One Printer, where the printer reports a "cartridge or account error" despite ink remaining, here are the steps to resolve it:
Check HP Instant Ink Status

  • Visit HP Instant Ink and log in.
  • Ensure the subscription is active and there are no billing issues.
  • If the subscription was canceled, you must replace the Instant Ink cartridges with standard cartridges (for this model).

Use Genuine HP Cartridges

  • Make sure the cartridges are genuine HP and not refilled or third-party.

Reset the Printer

  • Disconnect power while the printer is on.
  • Hold the Cancel + Wireless buttons together.
  • Reconnect power while holding the buttons for 10–15 seconds.

Update Firmware

  • Use the HP Smart app or go to HP Software & Drivers to check for firmware updates.

Hi MAX3Aj

Many thanks for taking the time to respond.

I can confirm I am using genuine new HP cartridges, am not enrolled in Instant Ink, and the printer has all the latest updates.

I tried the Reset Printer option you suggested, but it made no difference. HP Smart still says Cartridges Low, although I know they are not. Even for the the colour cartridge, although I have only printed 2 pages in colour, it is showing as 50% depleted.

I previously had an OfiiceJet, and replaced the cartridges every 4 months. I have not changed anything with my printing style, but the HP Envy is forcing me to change the cartridges every month, which makes it very expensive to run. I have come to the conclusion that this printer is not for me, as it has a design fault, which is forcing me to replace the cartridges even though I know there is a lot of ink in them. Even though it is only a few months old, I am going to bin it, and decided to purchase an Epson.
