Hi @1Clarke,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Envy Inspire printer is displaying an error that the ink cartridges are not communicating with the printer, here are a few steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
1. Check Ink Levels
- Ensure the ink cartridges are not empty. Replace them if necessary.
2. Reseat the Ink Cartridges
- Turn on the printer.
- Open the ink cartridge access door.
- Remove the ink cartridges from the carriage.
- Reinsert the ink cartridges and ensure they are seated properly.
- Close the ink cartridge access door.
3. Clean the Ink Cartridge Contacts
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Open the ink cartridge access door.
- Remove the ink cartridges.
- Gently clean the copper-colored contacts on the ink cartridges with a lint-free cloth and distilled water.
- Allow the contacts to dry completely before reinserting the ink cartridges.
4. Restart the Printer
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 60 seconds.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
5. Update Printer Firmware
- Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. You can download the latest firmware from the HP support website.
6. Use Genuine HP Cartridges
- Ensure you are using genuine HP ink cartridges. Non-HP cartridges might not communicate properly with the printer.
7. Perform a Printer Reset
- With the printer on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Wait for at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and then reconnect it to the printer.
- Turn the printer on.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
