The print quality on my ENVY Inspire 7900e is usually poor, and after I clean the cartridges about three times, sometimes more, it finally starts looking okay. Why do I need to constantly clean the cartridges? I don't print very often, maybe two pages a week. What can I do to reduce the need to clean the cartridges every time I print?

Hi @JD2112,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your printer is experiencing some issues with print quality despite infrequent use. Here are a few potential reasons why this might be happening and some tips to reduce the need for frequent cartridge cleaning.
- Dried ink: If you don't print very often, the ink in the cartridges may dry up, leading to poor print quality. Try printing a test page or running a printer maintenance routine at least once a week to keep the ink flowing smoothly.
- Clogged nozzles: Inkjet printers can develop clogged nozzles over time, especially if they're not used frequently. Running the printer's cleaning cycle periodically can help prevent nozzle clogs.
- Low-quality paper: Low-quality paper can cause smudging and poor print quality. Make sure you're using high-quality paper that's compatible with your printer.
- Environmental factors: Environmental factors like temperature and humidity can affect print quality. Try to keep your printer in a controlled environment with stable temperature and humidity levels.
- Printer settings: Check your printer settings to make sure they're optimized for the type of document you're printing. Using the wrong settings can result in poor print quality.
- Replace old cartridges: If your ink cartridges are old or low on ink, they may not perform as well. Consider replacing them with new cartridges to see if that improves print quality.
- Regular maintenance: Perform regular maintenance on your printer, such as cleaning the printheads and rollers, to keep it in good working condition.
By following these tips, you should be able to reduce the need for frequent cartridge cleaning and improve the overall print quality of your ENVY Inspire 7900e printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
