Helo!

I JUST bought a new printer - switching from Envy Photo 6255 where the colours kept crapping out to Envy Inspire 7255e where it keeps jamming. I am trying to print on MATTE Koala sticker paper (purchased on Amazon).

The printer keeps jamming like crazy - I've lost at least 20 pages of sticker paper in one day (and this paper ain't cheap).  I looked at the help boards and it recommended trying out "labels" as the paper type, however my printer dropdown menu for paper type only includes the following:

Plain Paper

HP Photo Papers

HP Matte Photo Paper

HP Matte Brochure or Professional Paper (Note: I've tried this as well, it still jams)

HP Matte Presentation Paper

HP Glossy Brochure or Professional Paper

Other Photo Inkjet Papers

Other Matte Inkjet Papers (tried this too - no success)

Other Glossy Inkjet Papers

Plain Paper, Light/recycled

Help!  The #1 reason I print is for stickers.  If this printer can't do it, I will need to return for refund ASAP.  I NEVER had this issue with my older HP Envy printer.

Welcome to the HP Community --

This printer is perhaps an "odd bird" in the Envy series or printers.

Paper must be supported by paper size, paper type, print surface, print paper type (Inkjet), and paper weight.

The printer does support a few paper types.

For example, it supports printing 2-sided photo paper.  That's different and an exceptional feature, in fact.

Significant

"HP Card" paper, though nominally mentioned in the Specifications, is not actually listed as a supported paper type.

Note:  HP Card paper is generally defined by HP as "HP Card - Index" 200 gsm / 110 lb.

The printer states it supports HP Brochure / Professional paper.

Note:  HP Brochure / Professional paper is 180 gsm.

Section Paper Handling

The Koala paper that I checked at Amazon is a specialty paper --

I've not so far found any clear information on the paper weight.

The lack of a clear paper weight specification for "Card" and the special nature of the paper you want to use might mean that this printer is not ideally suited for the task.

If your Koala paper is heavier than that weight limit it likely won't print, will jam, and / or result in other strange behavior.

If the paper weight is OK...

If you cannot find a compatible setting to adjust the paper type, the printer won't be able to adjust the rollers to print on the paper.

What else?

The print surface on the paper must be acceptable to the printer.  Sticker paper, especially the type that has a two-layer structure, might be OK on the front side but slippery on the back side -- this means the printer rollers might not be able to grab the paper.  The results include constant jams and feed problems.

If you have not done so,

Check the Tray and Paper Settings in EWS

True - Paper Type selections are more severely limited in the printer control panel and in EWS than they are within the Full Feature Software / full driver printer software Printing Preferences.

True - Specialty Paper - Matte is generally a viable paper type selection IF the paper you using is not too heavy, not slippery, or subject to other oddities in the structure of the paper.

The point

The Full Feature Software must be installed, the Printer Properties must be pointed at that HP driver and not the Microsoft / IPP class driver, the printer must be aware of the paper size and type, Printing Preferences must be set to a combination of supported paper size and type, and all of these things must work together to let the printer print the content on the paper.
