I had a ink subscription for my HP Envy Photo 7155 printer. I stopped the subscription and was able to print using the cartridges for a month. I changed out both cartridges for ones I bought at Staples. Now, the printer is sending a message to use HP Instant Ink Catridges. Does anyone know why and more importantly how to bypass this so I can use my printer?

Hi @DebbieZ1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

When you cancel your HP Instant Ink subscription, it is important to replace any subscription-specific ink cartridges with standard HP cartridges. The message you're receiving could be because your printer detects Instant Ink cartridges even after the subscription has ended, or there may be some configuration needed.

Here’s what you can try to resolve this issue:

Ensure Non-Instant Ink Cartridges are Installed: Make sure that the cartridges you purchased from Staples are genuine HP cartridges and not previously used or enrolled in another Instant Ink subscription. You should see that they are "Standard" or "Original" HP cartridges.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and disconnect it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the printer to the power source and turn it on.
  • Check if the message has disappeared.

Firmware Update:

  • Ensure that your printer is running the latest firmware version. Check for updates by visiting the Official HP® Support or using the printer’s control panel.

Cartridge Reinstallation:

  • Remove the cartridges, inspect for protective tape, and reinstall them carefully.
  • Ensure no debris or dust is on the cartridge and printhead contacts.

Printer Settings Check:

  • Access the settings on the printer's control panel to ensure there is no subscription service option still enabled.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Hi Jerry. Thank you for the information. The ink cartridges are definitely HP original ink cartridges. I turned the printer off for 2 days, removed the printer from the HP app. The message is still appearing. Is there anything else I can do to correct this?
