I am not able to print, the black ink cartridge is full, i have not used the color as I do not need color. I have cleaned the print heads. I am able to scan and get the image on computer. But when i send document to print, i can hear printing but when the sheet comes out it is blank.

Hi @suegrant,

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your HP Envy 4520 is not printing, but the black ink cartridge is full, try these steps:

Perform a Hard Reset

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from power.
  2. Wait 2-3 minutes.
  3. Plug it back in and turn it on.

Check the Black Ink Nozzle

  • Print a test page:
    1. Press the Setup button on the printer
    2. Go to Printer MaintenancePrint Quality Report
    3. Check if black ink appears.

If black ink is missing or faint:

  • Remove the cartridge, shake it gently, and reinstall it.
  • Perform a printhead cleaning from the printer menu:
    • Go to SetupPrinter MaintenanceClean Printhead

Enable Grayscale Printing (Force Black Ink)

  • On your computer:
    1. Go to Control PanelDevices and Printers
    2. Right-click on HP Envy 4520 → Select Printing Preferences
    3. Under the Paper/Quality tab, select Grayscale Printing

Manually Align the Printhead

  1. Open HP Smart or HP Printer Assistant
  2. Go to Printer Maintenance
  3. Select Align Printhead

Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers

  • Go to HP Support and download the latest drivers for the Envy 4520.
  • If reinstalling, remove the printer from Devices & Printers, restart the computer, then reinstall.

Try a Different Document Type

  • Test printing a PDF, a Word document, and a webpage to see if the issue is software-related.

Let me know if any of these steps help! 😊
