Hi @suegrant,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
If your HP Envy 4520 is not printing, but the black ink cartridge is full, try these steps:
Perform a Hard Reset
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from power.
- Wait 2-3 minutes.
- Plug it back in and turn it on.
Check the Black Ink Nozzle
- Print a test page:
- Press the Setup button on the printer
- Go to Printer Maintenance → Print Quality Report
- Check if black ink appears.
If black ink is missing or faint:
- Remove the cartridge, shake it gently, and reinstall it.
- Perform a printhead cleaning from the printer menu:
- Go to Setup → Printer Maintenance → Clean Printhead
Enable Grayscale Printing (Force Black Ink)
- On your computer:
- Go to Control Panel → Devices and Printers
- Right-click on HP Envy 4520 → Select Printing Preferences
- Under the Paper/Quality tab, select Grayscale Printing
Manually Align the Printhead
- Open HP Smart or HP Printer Assistant
- Go to Printer Maintenance
- Select Align Printhead
Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers
- Go to HP Support and download the latest drivers for the Envy 4520.
- If reinstalling, remove the printer from Devices & Printers, restart the computer, then reinstall.
Try a Different Document Type
- Test printing a PDF, a Word document, and a webpage to see if the issue is software-related.
Let me know if any of these steps help! 😊
