My HP Envy 4520 just stopped printing in color. Test page comes out fine from both the settings page and the panel on the printer, so it is not the cartridges, all other print jobs are B&W regardless of program. When I go to settings the "Print Gray Scale" option is not available. The settings pages seem very limited. I checked for driver updates and I'm up to date.
Thanks

Hi @OHGary,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like there might be a software issue causing your HP Envy 4520 to only print in black and white, despite the color cartridges being fine. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try.
- Restart Printer: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve minor software glitches. Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a minute or two, then plug it back in and turn it on.
- Check Printer Settings: On your computer, go to the printer settings and make sure that color printing is enabled. Sometimes, the default setting might accidentally be switched to black and white.
- Printer Driver Reinstallation: Even though you mentioned that you're up to date, it might be worth reinstalling the printer driver. Uninstall the current driver from your computer, restart your computer, and then reinstall the driver from the HP website.
- Print Spooler Service: Restart the Print Spooler service on your computer. Sometimes, issues with this service can cause printing problems.
- Printer Firmware Update: Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer on the HP support website. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve compatibility issues and improve printer performance.
- Factory Reset: As a last resort, you can perform a factory reset on your printer. This will restore all settings to their default values, potentially resolving any configuration issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
