I did a HP SMart test diagnostics and test print and color prints results say everything is fine. I went into preferences throug HP Smart and contro l panel. The control panel preferences says color is on. But, when I print and check preferences, color option isn't even offered. It says color is off and only offers high quality grayscale or black and white. Cartridges are new and the test print has color.

I've tried every setting I can find.

I closed down and unplugged the device and restarted it again.

Not sure what to do.

When an HP Envy 4520 printer is not printing in color despite showing all diagnostics as fine, there may be a few configuration issues causing this problem. Follow these steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Step 1: Remove the Printer from Windows

  1. USB Connection: Disconnect the cable from the printer.
  2. Turn Off Printer.
  3. Printers & Scanners: In Windows, search for and open Printers & scanners.
  4. Remove Printer: Look for and select the name of your printer in the list and click Remove or Remove Device > Yes.

Step 2: Create a Printer TCP/IP Port Connection

  1. Printers & Scanners: In Windows, search for and open Printers & scanners.
  2. Add Printer: Click Add device or Add a printer or scanner.
  3. Add Manually: Once the computer finds the available printers, click Add manually or The printer that I want isn't listed.
  4. Add Printer Using IP: From the Add Printer window, select Add a printer using an IP address or hostname, and then click Next.
  5. Device Type: From the Device type menu, select TCP/IP Device.
  6. Enter Printer IP: Enter your printer IP address, change the port name to something you can easily recognize, and then click Next.
  7. Install Driver: If an Install the printer driver screen displays, click hp, select your printer series name in the list (e.g., HP Envy 4520 series), and then click Next.
  8. Use Current Driver: When prompted to choose a driver version, select Use the driver that is currently installed (recommended), and then click Next.
  9. Change Printer Name: Keep or change the printer name, and then click Next to install the print drivers.
  10. Share Printer: Choose if you want to share the printer with anyone else on the same network, and then click Next.
  11. Finish Setup: After adding the printer, click Finish to close the setup window.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
