Product: HP ENVY 5010 All-in-One Printer
Hi there,
I've been having a problem with my printer. The black ink seems to not print properly in random places. For example, in the picture below, you can see that the S is smudged and the p is not fully printed. The colour ink is working absolutely fine, and supplies of both ink cartridges are fine. What could this be?

Welcome to the HP support community.
I understand that you are getting print quality issues, I am glad to assist you.
Did you make a copy and check if that prints fine?
Meanwhile:-
Print a Print Quality Diagnostic report
Load the printer with plain white paper.
- On the printer control panel, swipe left on the display, and then touch Setup
.
- Touch Tools.
- Swipe up on the display, and then touch Print Quality Report.
If that print quality is not good, follow these steps to fix the issue.
Clean the ink cartridges
- Load the printer with plain white paper.
- On the printer control panel, swipe left on the display, and then touch Setup
.
- Touch Tools, and then touch Clean Cartridges.
- Examine the print quality on the Print Quality Diagnostic report.
- If the print quality is acceptable, touch No. You can stop troubleshooting.
- If the print quality is unacceptable, touch Yes when prompted to perform the next level of cleaning.
