Has anyone found a solution for the ink cartridge not communicating correctly with the printer? My cartridge suddenly started giving this message. I tried cleaning the electric connection, and unplugging cord as suggested but with no improvement.

Hi @alh364 ,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're experiencing issues with your HP Envy 7858 printer not recognizing or communicating correctly with the ink cartridge, there are several steps you can try to troubleshoot and resolve the problem. Here are some suggestions:
May I know
1. Since when are you facing this issue
2. Have you made any changes on your printer post that this issue raised and have you observed any light blinking on the display
3, May I know if you are using genuine cartridges
Restart the Printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 1-2 minutes.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
- Check if the issue persists.
Update Firmware/Software:
- Make sure your printer firmware and software are up to date. Visit the official HP website, locate your printer model, and download the latest firmware and software updates.
Reinstall the Cartridge:
- Remove the ink cartridge from the printer.
- Turn off the printer.
- Wait for a few minutes.
- Reinsert the cartridge and turn the printer back on.
- Check if the issue is resolved.
Clean the Cartridge Contacts:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Remove the ink cartridge.
- Wipe the electrical contacts on the cartridge with a lint-free cloth.
- Wipe the contacts inside the printer where the cartridge sits.
- Reinsert the cartridge and turn the printer back on.
Check for Protective Tape:
- Ensure that the protective tape or plastic is removed from the ink cartridge. Sometimes, this tape can block the electrical contacts.
Use Genuine HP Cartridges:
- Make sure you are using genuine HP ink cartridges. Non-HP cartridges or refilled cartridges may not be recognized properly.
Reset the Printer:
- Perform a power reset by unplugging the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet. Wait for about 1-2 minutes, then plug it back in and turn on the printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
