We brought the Envy Photo 6220 from Argos and the exclusive was that you get 12 months free instant ink and £32 credit, but it doesn’t say how to claim it? 

Also, it’s saying out of paper on the app, even though there’s paper in it? And the cartridges that came with it said out of ink after 2 small prints? I brought some HP 303 and 5 prints later it’s empty again? Just brought another one and it’s done the same, 5 prints and empty? 

The instant inks aren’t coming until next week and I need them for business, but I can’t keep spending £20 every 5 pages! 

HP aren’t replying, does anyone know the problem with it?

Do the cartridges show low ink in the ink level monitor, or are they actually running out of ink as evidenced by deteriorating print quality? 

  

There are a few things to prevent excess ink usage: 

 

  • The ink cartridges that go with the printers are setup ink cartridges that are designed to initialize the printer.
  • During the initialization of the printer, a large quantity of ink is consumed by the printer to complete the cycle.
  • Printing photos consume more ink than printing documents/text on a regular paper.
  • Replace the empty ink cartridge with a HP regular/XL ink cartridge for better results.

  • The printer should always be plugged into a live outlet.  If you use an external switch such as an outlet switch then more ink will be used at each startup. 

  • Do not run cleaning cycles from the computer's toolbox or the printer's front panel.  These are rarely needed (perhaps once for each half dozen cartridges) and will use ink. 

  • Printing in Draft mode may have acceptable quality while providing about 2x the pages of Normal or Best modes.   

If you have used a new set of inks and it got empty printing 5 sheets, please reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region regarding the replacement options for your printer. 

You may create a case on the website to obtain a case number if required. Kindly watch this video to know how. You may mention the 12 months free offer if a replacement is offered.
