I need to know if I just got a bad printer and didn't purchase the warranty, so I'm out of luck. If I need to purchase a new one, it will not be an HP. I've tried everything I've been told to do.

This printer has not worked properly since we bought it and I've already gone through customer service, but their solution did not permanently solve the problem. The printer is not printing color (there is ink in it) and it's streaky, sometimes it barely prints ink on the page at all. This was my complaint back in OCT '20: "Printer is not printing correctly. Black is very faint, color is okay, although not great. I've tried the virtual assistant, nothing has worked. I've tried cleaning the cartridges (via the printer's cleaning function), and aligning them (got an "alignment unsuccessful" message). Neither made any difference. I also tried changing the cartridges although I know they're not empty - I haven't really been able to use the printer much since I bought it because of this issue. We just want to use our NEW printer - please help!!" They said the ink cartridges were faulty and sent me new ones. Printer worked maybe 1-2 times and now the problem has returned. Of course, now I'm outside of the warranty, but when I was inside the warranty, I thought they had fixed my problem. I need a permanent solution, or I'm throwing the printer out and never purchasing an HP again.

I've gone through the trouble shooting, cleaned the cartridges, updated the driver (only one for mine) and all the prints still turn out bad. Is there nothing more that can be done? It seems like this is related the issue that was "fixed" the first time this happened. I'm certain there's something wrong with the ink or something - it looks like the ink isn't even reaching the page. The print quality report has barely anything on it. I've also changed the ink. Please, someone help me.

@erose18, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I understand the print quality is not satisfactory.

I appreciate your efforts in trying to resolve this issue by performing the necessary troubleshooting steps.

Make sure you have tried the steps mentioned in this document - Black or Color Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues

Use HP ink cartridges.

If you have replaced the ink cartridges and the issue persists, this is an issue with the printer.

If the printer is out of warranty, I suggest you upgrade the printer. You may visit Hp Store to check the available printers.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.
