Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
You can try manually cleaning the printhead on your HP Envy Photo 7855 using the following methods.
Use the Printer's Built-In Cleaning Cycle
Since HP Smart isn't allowing you to clean the printhead, you can try the built-in cleaning option on the printer itself:
- On the Printer Screen, tap the Setup icon (gear ⚙️).
- Select Tools.
- Choose Clean Printhead.
- The printer will run a cleaning cycle and print a test page.
- If the print quality is still poor, repeat the cleaning process up to two more times.
Manually Clean the Printhead
If the built-in cleaning doesn't work, you can clean the printhead manually:
Step 1: Remove the Ink Cartridges
- Turn the printer on.
- Open the ink cartridge access door.
- Wait for the ink carriage to move to the center, then remove the cartridges.
- Place the cartridges on a clean, lint-free surface with the nozzles facing up.
Step 2: Clean the Printhead Contacts
- Take a lint-free cloth or coffee filter dampened with distilled water.
- Gently wipe the copper-colored contacts and the nozzle area on the cartridges.
- Let the printhead dry for a few minutes.
Step 3: Reinstall the Ink Cartridges
- Reinsert the cartridges into their correct slots.
- Close the printer cover and allow it to align the cartridges if prompted.
- Try printing a test page.
Reset the Printer
If you're still facing issues accessing the printhead cleaning options:
- Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cord from both the printer and wall outlet.
- Wait 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
- Check if the printhead cleaning option becomes available.
If print quality issues persist after multiple cleanings, the printhead might be clogged beyond cleaning and may need replacement.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
