Hi - two cartridges (tri-color and black) and both are to the right, however the black one is under cover to the right such that I can't get at it to remove and then install a new one. How do I make it come out from under? Thank you.

Hi @Sun1955,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand the black cartridge on your HP ENVY 6055e is stuck or hidden under the printer's housing, here's how to get it to move into the proper position for replacement:
Steps to Install or Replace Ink Cartridges:
Power On the Printer: Ensure the printer is powered on. The cartridge carriage only moves to the correct position for installation or replacement when the printer is turned on.
Open the Ink Cartridge Access Door:
- Lift the scanner lid or open the front cover to access the ink cartridge area.
- The cartridge carriage should automatically move to the center or an accessible position. If it does not:
- Wait for a few seconds, as it may take some time for the printer to prepare.
- Ensure no error messages are displayed on the printer.
Use the Printer’s Control Panel (if necessary):
- If the carriage doesn’t move, try initiating an ink cartridge replacement:
- On the printer’s control panel, press and hold the Cancel button (or similar button with a red X) for a few seconds.
- This action may prompt the printer to move the carriage.
Unplug and Replug (If Carriage is Stuck):
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Manually move the carriage to the center if it’s still stuck (gently, without forcing it).
- Plug the printer back in and power it on. Open the access door again to see if the carriage moves.
Replace the Ink Cartridge:
- Once the cartridge is accessible, gently push down on the black cartridge to release it.
- Pull it out and install the new one by sliding it in at an upward angle until it clicks into place.
Close the Access Door:
- Ensure the ink cartridge access door is fully closed before continuing.
- Wait for the printer to align or calibrate if prompted.
Troubleshooting:
- If the carriage is completely unresponsive or stuck, perform a hard reset:
- Turn off the printer.
- Unplug it for 60 seconds.
- Plug it back in and turn it on again.
