I am trying to print pages from a Word document to a HP ENVY 5530 printer. The attached images show the page to be printed and the result of the printing. The "box" at the upper left of the page is a text box. Note that such printing did work at one time., both for individual pages and the complete document. It also works presently for pages of the document other than those with the text box at the upper left..Suggestions for possible causes of this problem will be appreciated.Body Test Word Page.jpgBody Test Result.jpgPrinting ResultPrinting ResultTest PageTest Page

@TOMBUG1, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Text Box Print Settings in Word

Text boxes can sometimes be set not to print.

In Word, go to:

File > Options > Display

Ensure "Print drawings created in Word" is checked.

This setting controls whether text boxes, shapes, and SmartArt print correctly.

Text Box Formatting (Layering Issue)

If the text box is placed in front of or behind other elements, or if it has unusual wrapping settings, it might not render properly when printing.

Click the text box.

Right-click and choose Format Shape.

Check:

Fill and Line settings to ensure it's not set to 100% transparent.

Under Layout Options, try setting to "In Line with Text" or "Tight" rather than "Behind Text" or "In Front of Text".

Try copying the content from the box and pasting it as plain text elsewhere on the page temporarily to see if it prints.

Printer Driver or Print Settings Glitch

Sometimes printer drivers fail to render certain elements correctly — especially shapes or text boxes.

Try exporting the Word document as a PDF, then print the PDF.

If the text box prints from the PDF, it's likely a Word-to-printer driver issue.

Update the HP ENVY 5530 printer driver from the HP website.

Corrupted Word Document Element

That specific text box might be corrupted, even if it looks fine.

Try recreating the text box from scratch:

Delete the old one.

Insert a new text box.

Re-type or paste the content.

Try printing again.

Try Printing with Draft Quality Off

Sometimes, draft print mode skips graphical elements.

In Word, go to:

File > Print > Printer Properties

Make sure you're not in "Draft" or "Economy" mode.

Choose Best or Normal quality.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thanks for your thorough response. Unfortunately, I lost the capability to follow your debugging steps. As part of my own debugging I did a "Repair" of the the Office 365 app (as suggested by Microsoft). Part way through the repair it halted with a message that I needed Windows 11 to continue. I canceled the repair and then saw, unbelievably, that the process had uninstalled the Office app. (Of course, the Repair process should have discovered the Windows 11 dependency before uninstalling.) I installed a different (earlier) version of Office and the printing problem did not occur.

I have saved your thorough response for potential future use. Thanks again.
