Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I own the printer for about a year and I have gone through ORIGINAL HP printer cartridges for 4-5 times although I rarely use the printer. I only use the printer and set it up to receive occasional faxes. The ink in the cartridge seemed to dry up easily. I also notice a pool of dried ink underneath the cartridge slot inside the printer at the parked position. Is this a common problem for the printer.  Is the printer not designed to be idle most of the time and that the cartridge has a life-time of 2-3 months
