HP ENVY Inspire 7955e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Every photograph I print (no matter what program I print from or what quality the photo is) has light streaks through it.  I've cleaned printheads, done all the maintenance, aligned the cartridges, whatever it says to do, but nothing helps.  I also put in a new cartridge.  Any suggestions?

Hi @bsc1944,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I understand that you are having issues with the print quality.

If your HP ENVY Inspire 7955e All-in-One Printer is still printing photographs with light streaks despite trying various maintenance steps (like cleaning printheads, aligning cartridges, and installing new ink), there may be underlying issues affecting print quality. Here’s a step-by-step troubleshooting guide to help resolve the issue:

1. Verify Paper Type and Settings

  • Ensure you are using the correct type of photo paper (e.g., HP photo paper) and that it is loaded properly in the printer.
  • In the print settings:
    • Select Photo Paper as the paper type.
    • Choose the correct quality (e.g., Best or Maximum DPI).
    • Set the paper size to match the actual photo paper.
    • Ensure the color setting is enabled.

2. Print a Diagnostic Quality Report

  • Print a Print Quality Diagnostic Report to check for any visible defects:
    • On the printer control panel, go to Settings > Tools > Print Quality Report.
    • Review the report for streaks, missing colors, or alignment issues.
    • If streaks appear on the report, it indicates a hardware issue with the printhead or ink delivery system.

3. Manually Clean the Printheads

Sometimes, automated printhead cleaning isn’t enough, and manual cleaning is needed:

  • Open the printer and carefully remove the printhead.
  • Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water or isopropyl alcohol to gently clean the printhead contacts and nozzles.
  • Let the printhead dry completely before reinserting it into the printer.

4. Try Different Photo Paper

  • If the problem persists, try using a different brand or type of photo paper. Some papers might not be compatible with certain printers, resulting in streaks or poor print quality.
  • Ensure the photo paper is not damaged or expired.

5. Check for Firmware Updates

  • Your printer may benefit from a firmware update that can fix print quality issues:
    • Open the HP Smart app or go to Settings on the printer control panel.
    • Select Printer Maintenance > Update the Printer to check for any available firmware updates.

Please find the remaining steps in the next post.

Hi @bsc1944 ,

Please find the remaining steps below.

6. Perform an Extended Printhead Cleaning

  • Sometimes, more than one cleaning cycle is necessary:
    • On the printer's control panel, navigate to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Clean Printhead.
    • Run the cleaning process two or three times, as deeper clogs may require more thorough cleaning.
  • Try printing another photo after performing multiple cleanings to see if the issue improves.

7. Test with Different Software

  • If you’re experiencing streaks regardless of the program, try printing directly from HP Smart or another photo printing app.
  • This will rule out whether the problem is software-related.

8. Check Ink Cartridge Authenticity

  • Make sure the ink cartridges you’re using are genuine HP cartridges. Non-genuine or third-party ink cartridges can sometimes cause print quality issues, even if they’re brand-new.

9. Reset the Printer

  • Resetting the printer to factory defaults can sometimes resolve hidden issues with settings or performance:
    • On the printer’s control panel, go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Restore Defaults.
    • After resetting, reconfigure the printer and attempt to print another photo.

.

If none of the above solutions work and streaks persist, you may be dealing with a deeper hardware issue related to the printhead or internal ink delivery system. It may be necessary to contact HP phone support for further assistance.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
