There has been firmware installed that has blocked compatible ink cartridges from being used. HP OfficeJet Pro 7740
Further to the paragraph above and following a long telephone conversation with a HP rep/technician, he initially denied that HP send out blocking firmware. After thoroughly investigating this with my printers serial number he confirmed that indeed in the last few days a firmware update block working until HP products are installed. "The indicated (yellow in this case) cartridges have been blocked by the printer firmware because they contain a non-HP chip. This printer is intended to work only with a new or reused HP chip. Replace the indicated cartridges to continue printing. For more information go to www.hp.com/learn/ds"

This is unacceptable. Printer was working fine, has legal HP cartridges installed and then suddenly "poof" not working, thinks the cartridges are not HP. Yet another case of half-baked quality assurance by HP. Now what? Should I take the bait and buy new HP cartridges, only to find the printer thinks they are illegal ones?
