What do we do with all this extra ink that we acquired when we were enrolled in the Instant Ink program with an old printer that we had?

Hi @Doug_Huff

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you have extra HP Instant Ink cartridges from a previous printer that you no longer use, you have several options to handle them:

1. Use the Cartridges with Your New Printer (if compatible)

If your new printer supports Instant Ink and is part of the HP Instant Ink program, you may be able to use those extra cartridges if they are compatible with your new model.

Check Compatibility: Verify if the cartridges are compatible with your new printer model. You can check this on the HP website or by looking at the model number on the cartridge and matching it to your printer's supported list.

Activate Instant Ink: If your new printer is enrolled in the Instant Ink program, you can still use the remaining cartridges (even if they’re from an older printer), as long as they are the right model and have not expired.

2. Return the Cartridges to HP

HP allows users to return unused Instant Ink cartridges. This is a good option if you can’t use them anymore and want to get rid of them responsibly.

Return for Recycling: HP offers a free cartridge return program for recycling. You can request a return label through the HP Instant Ink portal or use the HP website to send the cartridges back. They will either be recycled or repurposed.

HP Cartridge Recycling Program:

  1. Go to the HP Instant Ink website.
  2. Log into your HP account.
  3. Follow the instructions to return the unused cartridges or request a return kit

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
