WIN_20220607_08_42_12_Pro.jpgGreetings,

So I have two HP MFP 281FDW laser printers. One of them started printing shadows or double images on everything that has any color to it. Black letter printing seems to print just fine, but anything with color to it has a shadow just to the right of the image or color print. I've already tried the following:

  • Multiple Cartridge cleanings (using cleaning option on printer)
  • Multiple Calibrations (using calibration option on printer)
  • Switched cartridges from other printer to see if it was a cartridge problem, but it is not (using these cartridges on other good printer printed fine)
  • Reinstalled firmware

Not sure what else to try at this point. We print from 2 different Windows computers (Windows 10 and 11) and 2 android smart hones to this printer and the problem persists no matter where we print from, therefore the issue is definitely inherent to this printer.

Could this be an issue with the drum or roller? Is there some way to inspect or correct. HELP!! Thanks in advance.

@WillyQ711

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,
This seems like a hardware issue with the printer. I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Does the copy print out the same way?
  • What is the media type used on the printer?

If you have already performed the steps from the document Fixing Poor Print Qualityhttps://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04100778 and the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure.
