HP LaserJet Pro 4001ne Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

When we printer labels 2 x 4 ten labels to a page.  The printout is smeared the label is poor quality?  I have never encountered this before.  I have had laserjet printers in the past and this is the 1st time a laserjet printer prints label with smears.

Please can anyone help us with this issue?

Thank you for your attention in this matter.

Sincerely,

Marilyn

Hello ELCseals,

For print quality issues we recommend checking the following:

  • Make sure your printer is connected directly to the power outlet.
  • Make sure your printer has original toner installed.
  • Test with some other media, like letter size, 20 pound paper. If problem does not happen there, maybe the issue could be related to the label paper being used.
  • Make sure the label paper does not have any kind of coating, no adhesive backed labels, no gloss finish. Also you can check your paper against the printer's datasheet to make sure you are using a supported paper. Datasheet for your printer is located in the HP website https://www8.hp.com/h20195/v2/GetDocument.aspx?docname=c08197298

If you face smearing even with supported paper, we recommend you to call HP+ printer support by dialing 800-762-3485 for further investigation.
