A few months ago my HP M479fdw started printing out really faint quality. No matter if it was B&W or color, no matter if it was a print out or a copy. It got worse and worse. Toner status on all toners is above 70%. I tried running the printer clean program several times without any success. I also tried ordering a new black toner that yields the same results you can hardly read anything I also went as far as getting a new fuser which also yielded no results.
I am running the latest firmware. The printer itself gets used very rarely, it had less than 400 printouts on it and aprox 2 years of age when it started. Has anyone got any ideas before I toss this piece of junk out that window that now has already cost me half of the cost of a new printer?
Thanks

Sorry to hear about your issues. Basics to check, make sure you have a good power, typically a separate circuit is recommended to avoid low power issues. Never plug a laser printer into a surge bar or a UPS. Perform an engine test to narrow down possible causes. This is done with the printer in ready state, open and close the front door times in quick succession. You should get a page with vertical lines printed on both sides. If that test looks good then your issues may be the formatter and I would suggest an NVRAM reset on the printer.

So I wasn't able to get that vertical lines page to print, not sure how many times you meant to open the front door and by front door do you mean the area where the toner compartment is located and not the manual feeder correct?
But I went ahead and performed a Cold reset according the the HP Service manual which completely resets the NVRAM but the results are the same you can't hardly read anything that gets printed out.
