Hi @fayejr,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds frustrating to encounter compatibility issues with your printer cartridges. There could be a few reasons why the HP Officejet Pro 8620 or 8610 won't accept the HP 952 color cartridges:
Compatibility: Ensure that the HP 952 cartridges are compatible with your printer model. While the HP Officejet Pro 8620 and 8610 typically use HP 950/951 or HP 950XL/951XL cartridges, it's worth double-checking if HP 952 cartridges are indeed compatible. You can usually find this information in the printer's manual or on the manufacturer's website.
Correct Insertion: Make sure you're inserting the cartridges correctly. They should fit snugly into the cartridge slots, and you should hear a click when they're properly seated.
Firmware Update: Sometimes, printers require firmware updates to recognize newer cartridges. Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer model and install them if necessary.
Genuine Cartridges: Ensure that you're using genuine HP cartridges. Third-party or counterfeit cartridges might not be recognized by the printer or could cause compatibility issues.
Clean Contacts: Occasionally, the contacts on the cartridges or inside the printer might get dirty or covered in ink residue, preventing proper communication. Try cleaning the contacts gently with a lint-free cloth and reinstall the cartridges.
Printer Restart: Sometimes, simply restarting the printer can resolve minor issues. Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a few minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on again.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
