Does anyone know the official HP solution to the problem of printers (OJ 4500 in my case) indicating that the HP60 cartridge is not compatible as a replacement for the discontinued HP901 cartridge? I have reset the printer's memory (multiple times), removed and reinstalled the HP60 cartridge (multiple times), checked the printer firmware (there is no new version), and cleaned the cartridge and print head contact points -- all to no avail.
HP created this issue. They must have a solution, right. However, nothing I have seen on their support sites is helpful.

Hi,
Can you see any such text about 901 ink replacement on its packaging as shown below?
Are you using original or replacement ink cartridges?
What is the warranty end date listed on the ink cartridge?

My product is a combo package (black and tri-color inks), but no, that text is not present on the packaging. Does that mean the HP60 cartridge I purchased is not really compatible, and that I need to seek out a compatible HP60?
