Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Wife was printing a document and the printer had a paper jam.  I removed the paper, cancelled all print jobs, power cycled the printer then had her try printing again.

This time it printed but the black ink printing was sporadic.  I had her print a second time and it quit printing black completely.

I noted the ink level seemed low from the printers display setting (this was not an alert) and I had a replacement HP Black cartridge (63) so I installed it in place of the current HP black ink cartridge.

I had her print again and same thing, no black ink printed.

I quit printing from her computer and instead did only printing from the printer menu at this point.

I did a cleaning, test page, alignment and still no black.

I pulled the new cartridge I installed and pressed the print head onto a paper towel and black ink comes out freely.  I did the same with the color cartridge and it was good although the level appears low from the printers display.

I cleaned the connector on the black housing where the print cartridge is inserted, with a cotton swab and alcohol and wiped dry.

I reinstalled the color and black print cartridges and still cannot get black ink to print.

One thing to note, is that I went to the web page for the printer then went under Tools, Printer Information, there is a Print Self Test Page.

I did that twice and a mostly blank page printed with two sets of square brackets which in the middle of the page which 'appear' to be black --- like these [   ]  [   ].

On the inside of the left of the left set of brackets, there is a red, yellow, and cyan bar that only fills up a third of the space between the brackets but there is no other color or printing on the page.

The brackets appear to be black but may be a mix of color creating black --- I cannot tell.

I have searched online and HP's website and nothing I have found seems to help.

I have powered off the printer, then unplugged for over 60 seconds as well.

Looking for help and wondering if it is a connection problem BUT I am also curious about the Test page.  I tried searching for an example of the Test page online but am unable to find anything similar.
