@Mike1234321, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If your HP Office Jet 5255 is displaying the error message "Cartridge cannot be used until printer is enrolled in HP Instant Ink" even though you are enrolled, you can follow these troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue.

Verify Enrollment:

  • Ensure that your printer is correctly enrolled in HP Instant Ink. You can check the enrollment status by logging into your Instant Ink account and reviewing your printer details.

Check Printer Status:

  • Sign in to your Instant Ink account and go to the Overview section.
  • Check the printer status under your printer name. Ensure it shows Ready to print.

Reconnect to the Internet:

  • Ensure the printer is connected to the internet, as Instant Ink services require an active connection.
  • Verify the Wi-Fi connection is stable and the wireless light on the printer is solid blue.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, disconnect the power cord, wait for 30 seconds, and then reconnect the power cord.
  • Turn on the printer and check if the error message persists.

Remove and Reinsert Ink Cartridges:

  • Open the cartridge access door, remove the ink cartridges, and then reinsert them into their slots.
  • Make sure cartridges snap into place securely.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Check if there are any available firmware updates and install them. This can be done through the printer control panel or using the HP app.
  • Go to HP Software and Driver Downloads to download firmware updates if needed.

Refresh Instant Ink Connection:

  • On your Instant Ink account page, click the Refresh icon in the top-right corner to update printer connection status.
  • Repeat the refresh process up to five times if necessary.
