@MaryChicken, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your HP OfficeJet 6830!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
It sounds like you've already tried most of the basic troubleshooting steps for your HP Officejet Pro 6830 printer, but if cyan still isn't printing, here are a few additional steps you can try:
1. Run Printhead Cleaning Multiple Times
Since cyan is completely missing, try running the printhead cleaning process multiple times.
- On the printer's control panel, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Clean Printhead
- Run it up to three times (waiting a few minutes between each run)
2. Check Ink Cartridge Venting
Sometimes, a clogged vent can prevent ink from flowing.
- Remove the cyan cartridge
- Look for a small vent on top of the cartridge
- Use a pin or paperclip to gently clear any dried ink or blockage
- Reinsert the cartridge and try printing
3. Check the Printhead for Clogs
If the printhead itself is clogged, ink won’t flow properly.
- Remove all cartridges
- Dampen a lint-free cloth with warm distilled water
- Gently wipe the bottom of the printhead to remove dried ink
- Let it dry completely before reinstalling
4. Align the Printer
After cleaning, aligning the printhead can help:
- Go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Align Printer
- Follow on-screen instructions
5. Try a Different Cyan Cartridge
Even if your current cartridge is new, it could be defective. If possible, try another genuine HP cyan cartridge to rule out a bad cartridge.
6. Reset the Printer
A hard reset can sometimes resolve firmware issues:
- Turn off the printer
- Unplug it from power for 2-3 minutes
- Plug it back in and turn it on
Let me know if this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
