Hello, I am having similar problem as Matteo30 with my 8210 printer rejecting a genuine HP 952XL ink cartridge. This particular new cartridge is from a package of 2. The first genuine HP cartridge I used from this pack worked fine, but the second from the same package is being rejected and will not allow my printer to function at all. The message reads, "Cartridge(s) for older generation of printer" (my printer IS an older printer) and shows my ink level as empty with "-" symbol. Please send me the fix to get my printer to accept this genuine HP 952XL ink cartridge from the "Accepted Solution" by Sandytechy20, HP Support Agent. Please stand behind your HP products.
I look forward to hearing from you soon. Thank you.

HP changed the design of the cartridges used in your printer and updated the firmware to reject the old generation cartridges. See the document here for information.
HP should replace any genuine HP cartridges that are giving the Old Generation Cartridge error. I will ask to have your case escalated.
I am not an employee of HP, I am a volunteer posting here on my own time.
