HP Recommended

I have used this HP Office Jet Pro 8610 for over 10 years without problems. Always use genuine HP cartridges 950/951. Needed to replace the black ink cartridge HP 950XL. After installation got error message "Print failure...There is a problem with the printer or ink system." There was no 'Error Code' provided.  I have tried the following: 1) Turned printer off and unplugged the power cord, waited 60 seconds before powering back up, as recommended. Did not fix issue. 2) Found that the Warranty Date on the cartridge I installed had expired, so got and installed a new cartridge with good expiration date. Received same error message. 3) Turned printer off/on again, as above...got same message. 

 

Anyone experienced this? Any thoughts/suggestions of other actions that might work are welcome. Of course, I realize this is an older printer no longer supported by HP (but, has had no previous issues), and that buying a new printer is the ultimate default option.  Thanks very much,
