I unboxed my printer brand new and in the setup to install my ink cartridges on the screen it indicates a cartridge jam and the cartridge cannot move into the loading zone and it says to remove any packing material. There is no packing material obstructing the cartridge. Unbelievable this happened on a brand new printer out of the box. Are there any solutions to resolve this?

Hi @BrentMyers,
Welcome to the HP Support Community
I understand you are facing a carriage issue with your HP Printer. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.
Let's perform a power drain:
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Remove USB cable, if present.
- Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
- Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
- Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle

Hi @BrentMyers,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your new HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 printer. Cartridge jam issues can be frustrating, but there are a few steps you can take to try and resolve the problem.
Power Cycle the Printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for a few minutes before plugging it back in.
- Turn the printer back on and see if the issue persists.
Check for Obstructions:
- Make sure there are no packing materials or other obstructions inside the printer.
- Open the printer cover and check the cartridge area thoroughly.
- Look for any pieces of tape, paper, or other debris that might be blocking the cartridge.
Manually Move the Cartridge:
- With the printer turned off, try gently moving the cartridge to the loading zone.
- Be cautious and avoid applying excessive force. The cartridge should move freely without any resistance.
Reset the Printer:
- Sometimes a reset can help resolve electronic glitches. Refer to your printer manual for instructions on how to perform a reset.
Update Firmware/Software:
- Ensure that your printer's firmware and software are up to date. Visit the HP support website to check for the latest updates.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
