Product: HP OfficeJet Pro 6978

I need new ink while in a bind and I purchased some generic ink because I have an important paper to print for college. The generic ink won't work due to firmware saying it's not HP ink?? Is there a way to get around this?? I really need a quick fix because I'm in a major bind. I read others questioning the same thing but I didn't look this up before the purchase. I seriously need to get my printer working. Please tell me there's something out by now that can help me!!
