HP Officejet 4655
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Purchased in 2017.  Worked great until laptop replaced last year.  Worked with new laptop until a Windows 10 update.  Now won't print color and Best Buy Geek Squad can't seem to fix.  Any suggestions?

@willardlb, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I understand you are not able to print in color. Let us try these steps:

Install the printer using the TCP/IP port:

  1. On the PC, go to Control panel > Devices and printers Remove the existing printer entry > click on Add a printer(at the top)
  2. Under 'Choose a device or printer', click on 'The printer I want isn't listed'.
  3. Select 'Add a printer using a TCP/IP address'
  4. Find the IP address of the printer by tapping on the wireless/ethernet icon on the printer screen
  5. Type in the 'IP address in Hostname or IP address' box, click next
  6. Proceed to the next steps by following the on-screen instructions.
  7. Try printing in color.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Geek Squad deleted and added back printer and it worked for a week, maybe 10 days.  Then it reoccurred again.

This seems to have worked.  Thank you.  Do you think the reason might be that instead of just finding the printer I did it by TCP/IP address??

Does this mean everytime there is a WIndows 10 update I may have to do this process again?

Thanks for your help.  I hope this lasts longer than the last 'fix' which lasted 7-10 days

The issue was caused by Windows updates and hence we installed the printer using its IP address which did the job. It should work fine.

HP and Microsoft are working to fix the bug in the Windows updates.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.
