Hi @Hd1975,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP OfficeJet 8020 printer is not printing color on your Mac despite trying various troubleshooting steps, here are some additional steps you can take to resolve the issue.
Check Printer Settings:
- Open the Print dialog on your Mac (usually by pressing Command + P while in a document).
- Make sure that "Color" or "Color Options" is selected, and not set to "Black and White" or "Grayscale."
Driver Update:
- Ensure you have the latest HP printer drivers installed. Visit the HP website to download and install the latest drivers for your specific printer model.
Reset Print System:
- Go to "System Preferences" > "Printers & Scanners."
- Right-click (or Control-click) on the printer in question and select "Reset printing system." Confirm the action.
- Re-add your printer by clicking the "+" button and selecting your printer.
Software Update:
- Make sure your Mac's operating system is up to date. Sometimes, a system update can resolve compatibility issues.
Check Ink Levels:
- Verify that the color ink cartridges have sufficient ink and are not expired.
Clean the Printhead Manually:
- If you haven't already, you can manually clean the printhead. Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to do this. Typically, it involves removing the cartridges and using a lint-free cloth or cotton swab to gently clean the printhead.
Check for Color Settings on Printer:
- Access your printer's settings through the control panel (if available) and ensure there are no color restrictions or settings that might be causing the issue.
Use HP Print and Scan Doctor:
- Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor utility from the HP website. This tool can diagnose and resolve common printing problems.
Try a Different Computer:
- If you have access to another computer, try printing in color from it to determine if the issue is specific to your Mac.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
