I've been experiencing print quality issues for the past few weeks. I first noticed this in black and white prints where there is a kind of pinkish haze/shadow effect to text. I tested with an image and got vertical pinkish lines throughout the image. Here is an example:

Note: All examples are printed from the same printer and scanned through the document feeder so the quality is a little spotty, but the print errors are still clearly visible.

I did a little googling and found a few suggestions such as cleaning the printhead, which I performed several times, with the following result each time.

I ran this 5-6 times with identical results each time, and moved on to aligning the printhead and trying again (same result). I finally printed a quality diagnostics page, which looked like this:

I have followed each of the steps outlined in this page, and nothing helped. So then I took to googling again and came upon this page from HP support: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06260268

Even though I'd already run through these steps, I tried again in the spirit of thoroughness, and am getting the exact same results each time. I have tried with different ink cartridges, and have had no success.

Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? My printer is effectively unusable at this point, it is ruining all personal and work documents.

Hi @mwcraft91,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're experiencing discolored bars when printing with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8030, it could be due to various factors. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to address the issue.

  • Check ink levels: Make sure the ink cartridges have sufficient ink. If any of the cartridges are low or empty, replace them with new ones.
  • Clean the printhead: Use the printer's built-in cleaning utility to clean the printhead. This process can help remove any clogs or debris that may be affecting the print quality. You can usually find the cleaning option in the printer's settings menu or the accompanying software on your computer.
  • Align the printhead: Misaligned printheads can cause printing issues. Most printers have an alignment feature that allows you to realign the printhead. Look for the alignment option in the printer's settings menu or software and follow the instructions provided.
  • Check paper quality: Ensure that you are using the recommended type and quality of paper for your printer. Low-quality or incompatible paper can sometimes lead to printing problems.
  • Update printer drivers: Outdated or incompatible printer drivers can cause various issues. Visit the HP website and download the latest drivers specifically designed for your OfficeJet Pro 8030 model. Install the updated drivers on your computer and see if it resolves the problem.
  • Perform a hard reset: Turn off your printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for a few minutes. Then, plug it back in, turn it on, and try printing again. This can help clear any temporary glitches and restore normal functionality.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
