HP OfficeJet Pro 8120e All-in-One Printer

Can the estimated ink level on a HP OfficeJet Pro 8120e printer be reset to show full.

I have replaced the ink cartridge with a new HO 925, but printer still showing low ink level

I have manually reset printer by unplugging cord from printer and wall socket, 5 times

however, printer still showing nearly out of ink. Any suggestions?

Hi @Jefflemc1,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP OfficeJet Pro 8120e is still showing low ink levels after replacing the cartridge and performing a reset, here are some additional steps you can try:

Check Cartridge Installation:

  • Ensure that the new ink cartridge is installed correctly and fully seated in its slot. Sometimes, a cartridge might appear installed but isn't making full contact.

Remove and Reinstall the Cartridge:

  • Power off the printer and remove the new ink cartridge. Wait a few moments, then reinsert it, ensuring it clicks into place.

Clean the Cartridge Contacts:

  • With the printer off, gently clean the contacts on both the ink cartridge and the printer's cartridge slots with a lint-free cloth. Be careful not to touch the copper contacts directly with your fingers.

Check for Firmware Updates: Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Sometimes, firmware updates can resolve issues with ink-level reporting. Check for any available updates for your printer model.

Printer Alignment:

  • Perform a printer alignment through the printer's settings menu. This can sometimes help reset the ink level status.

Ink Cartridge Compatibility:

  • Verify that the ink cartridge is compatible with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8120e model. Sometimes, incorrect or refilled cartridges might not be recognized properly.

Run Printer Diagnostics:

  • Use the printer's built-in diagnostic tools or software to check the status and perform any necessary maintenance or troubleshooting.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
