Hi @suebo32,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding !
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Check for Issues with Ink Cartridges
- Replace any non-HP or refilled cartridges with genuine HP cartridges. HP supplies are available from the HP Store and local retailers.
- HP cannot guarantee the quality or reliability of non-HP or refilled cartridges. More information can be found on the HP Anti Counterfeiting and Fraud Program.
Check ink levels:
- Replace any low or empty cartridges. Your printer features a 'backup mode' and may allow a limited number of prints when cartridges are very low or empty, but color prints might not be supported.
- If handling cartridges roughly during transport or installation, wait a few hours for the automatic servicing routine to complete before trying to print again.
Replace defective cartridges if under warranty:
- If you suspect a cartridge is defective, check warranty details on the About Original HP Cartridges page.
Verify Print Settings
- On your computer, open the document/photo you want to print.
- Press Ctrl + P or click Print to open the print window, and access the printer properties or settings (this might be labeled as Printer Properties, Properties, More settings, Printer, or Options, depending on the software).
- Check the settings for paper type, size, and print quality, ensuring that you select color printing options as required.
Ensure Appropriate Paper Usage
- Load the paper print side down in the input tray. Ensure you do not use wrinkled or curled paper and use only clean, wrinkle-free paper.
- For photo or high-contrast graphics, use HP Advanced Photo Paper for best results. Plain paper with ColorLok technology works well for everyday text documents.
Clean and Align Printhead
- On the printer control panel Home screen, touch Menu, scroll to Utilities, touch Tools, then Reports, and finally Status Reports. Touch Print Quality Diagnostic Report and print the report.
- Evaluate results from the Printer Quality Diagnostic Report to check for streaks or missing color blocks.
Clean the printhead:
- Use the automated tool from the printer control panel to clean the printhead.
Align the printhead:
- Use the automated tool to align the printhead, following on-screen instructions.
Test Printing from HP Smart App
- Open HP Smart App, go to Print Documents or Print Photos, choose the appropriate settings, and test printing from the app.
I hope this helps.
