Hi @Dar1143,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP OfficeJet Pro 8135e is printing only in black and not in color, here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Check Ink Cartridges:

  • Make sure the color ink cartridges are properly installed and have ink in them. Remove and reinsert the cartridges to ensure they are seated correctly.
  • Verify that the cartridges are not expired or dried out.

Check Printer Settings:

  • Open the Control Panel on your Windows 11 computer.
  • Go to Devices and Printers, find your HP OfficeJet Pro 8135e, right-click on it, and select Printing Preferences.
  • In the Printing Preferences window, go to the Paper/Quality or Color tab and ensure that the Color option is selected instead of Black & White or Grayscale.

Run Printer Troubleshooter:

  • Open Settings on your Windows 11 computer.
  • Go to System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
  • Find and run the Printer troubleshooter to detect and fix any issues automatically.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Go to the HP website and download the latest drivers for your HP OfficeJet Pro 8135e that are compatible with Windows 11.
  • Install the updated drivers and restart your computer.

Print a Test Page:

  • From the Control Panel, go to Devices and Printers, right-click on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8135e, and select Printer Properties.
  • Click on Print Test Page to see if the printer can produce a color print.

Check for Software Issues:

  • Make sure your HP Smart app or any other printer software is up-to-date. Sometimes, outdated software can cause printing issues.

Check Printer Firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Visit the HP support website and check if there is a firmware update available for your HP OfficeJet Pro 8135e. Updating the firmware can resolve compatibility and functionality issues.

Perform a Printer Reset:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in, turn it on, and try printing again.

I hope this helps.
