It's false advertising to say ink cartridges last for 400-500 pages, but then run out after only 30 pages (and no, it's not images or printing that requires lots of ink, it's normal printing). It's unacceptable. Why does your ink not last as long as you say, but cost as much as it does?

@Steph914, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for reaching out — I genuinely understand how frustrating this must be. When you're investing in a printer like the HP OfficeJet Pro 8135e and paying for original ink, you'd naturally expect the cartridges to last as advertised.
Let me clarify how page yield works and what might be affecting what you're seeing.
The 400–500 page estimate is based on industry-standard testing, which prints simple, short text documents with 5% ink coverage per page. In real-world use, though, things like heavier fonts, colored headers, logos, duplex printing and printer maintenance cycles can use more ink than you’d expect
HP strives to be transparent and fair in how we present yield information, and it’s never our intention to mislead customers.
Thank you again for sharing your feedback.
Take care and have a good day.

Hey @Steph914,
Thanks for your feedback.
We understand your concern, and we appreciate you taking the time to share it. That said, our page yield estimates are based on industry-standard testing (ISO/IEC 19752), which is designed to provide a consistent benchmark across different products.
However, actual ink or toner usage will always vary depending on specific usage patterns, print settings, and content types.
I hope this helps,
Take care and have a good day.
