Hi @Thomas815,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP OfficeJet Pro 8610 printer isn't recognizing the cartridges after a printhead replacement. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:
Check Cartridge Compatibility: Make sure the cartridges are compatible with your printer model. Using non-HP or refilled cartridges can sometimes cause recognition issues.
Reinstall Cartridges: Turn off the printer, wait a few seconds, then turn it back on. Open the cartridge access door and remove each cartridge. Check each one to ensure they are clean and free from any protective covers or plastic tape. Reinstall them carefully, making sure each one is securely installed in its proper slot.
Reset the Printer: Unplug the printer from the power source, wait about a minute, then plug it back in. This can help reset the printer’s internal memory and potentially resolve the issue.
Clean the Contacts: Sometimes, dirt or ink residue on the cartridges or inside the printer can interfere with the connection. Use a clean, lint-free cloth lightly dampened with distilled water to clean the copper-colored contacts on the cartridges and the contacts inside the printer where the cartridges sit. Wait for the contacts to dry before reinserting the cartridges.
Update Printer Firmware: HP regularly releases printer updates that can resolve issues. Check the HP website for any available updates for your printer model and follow the instructions to install.
Printhead Alignment: After replacing the printhead, it’s a good idea to run the printhead alignment process through your printer’s control panel or the HP software on your computer.
Check for Error Messages: Look for any specific error messages on the printer’s display or computer screen. These messages can offer more detailed advice on resolving the issue.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
