Error Message - Use New Cartridges for Startup after installing new cartridges in HP OfficeJet Pro 8710.  Firmware is update to date.  Clean and Print Align utilities not working.  Powered on and off multiple times.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 is not recognizing new HP 952 ink cartridges and you've already performed some troubleshooting steps, here are some additional steps you can try.

 

  • Check Cartridge Compatibility: Ensure that the cartridges you've installed are compatible with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710. HP printers can be sensitive to cartridge types, and using non-genuine or incompatible cartridges may result in recognition issues.
  • Reinstall Cartridges: Remove the new cartridges, turn off the printer, and unplug it from the power source. After a minute, plug it back in, turn it on, and reinstall the cartridges. Make sure they are securely and correctly seated.
  • Clean Cartridge Contacts: Clean the electrical contacts on both the cartridges and the printer. Use a lint-free cloth or cotton swab and distilled water. Be gentle, and make sure to let the contacts dry completely before reinstalling the cartridges.
  • Reset the Printer: Perform a power reset by turning off the printer, unplugging it, and holding the power button down for 15-20 seconds. Then, plug it back in, turn it on, and check if the issue persists.
  • Update Printer Firmware: Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date. Visit the official HP support website, enter your printer model, and download the latest firmware if available. Install it following the provided instructions.
  • Use Original HP Cartridges: While compatible cartridges may work, using genuine HP cartridges is always recommended to avoid potential compatibility issues.

I tried everything and 2 sets of new HP cartridges.  Screen does flicker white a couple of times after plugging back into the wall before hitting power on button.  Still asking to use New Cartridges for Startup after booting up.
