If your HP OfficeJet Pro 9730E printer is not printing in color, you can follow these steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Check Ink Cartridges:

  • Ensure that you are using genuine HP cartridges as very low ink levels or non-HP cartridges can cause print quality issues.
  • Check the ink levels through the printer's control panel and replace any low or empty color cartridges. You can find HP supplies from the HP Store.

Use Correct Paper:

  • Make sure that the paper loaded matches your print job. Load the paper print side down in the input tray if applicable.
  • Avoid using wrinkled or curled paper and use the recommended paper types that work well with HP ink.

Check Print Settings:

  • Open the HP Smart app on your device, and go to 'Print Documents' or 'Print Photos' to ensure settings are correct.
  • Adjust settings such as Media Type, Quality, and Paper Size to appropriate options for the color print job.

Align and Clean the Printhead:

  • Use the printer's utility tools to align the printhead or clean it if you notice streaks or missing colors on the diagnostic report.
  • Follow the Display Menu > Utilities > Troubleshooting > Print Quality path to launch the alignment process.

Print Quality Diagnostic Report:

  • Print a diagnostic report directly from the printer’s control panel. Review the colored boxes for ink flow issues, and perform any recommended maintenance like cleaning the printhead or aligning it.

Firmware and Driver Updates:

  • Keep your printer firmware updated to ensure all features work correctly and security issues are patched. Visit HP Software and Driver Downloads to check for updates.
