Good morning
I got the printer ink low message. As I replaced one of the cartridges and getting ready for the message to align the printer via print/scanning etc as usual I got the message that the "C" cartridge was an older generation and would not work with the printer. I am part of the HP printer program so it is the one HP sent to me. I do have another cartridge (from HP) to try but wanted to get some input before I attempt this.

HP made changes to the ID codes of the cartridges some time ago, and later changed the firmware to disallow the previous cartridges from working. You will need a replacement cartridge.
Are you a subscriber to the HP Instant Ink program? The document here has information on contacting HP to get replacement Instant Ink cartridges. Go to the HP Instant Ink site, the phone number (or chat option for some countries) will be listed in the lower center of the opening screen.
Alternately, you can click on the Virtual Assistant. When the assistant opens type "Where is my ink?" (w/o the quotes). The system will ask a few questions and then schedule your shipment.
