My HP Officejet printer 4500 Model G510g is still working, but I recently got the error message in my subject line when replacing my black HP 901 printer cartridge. The same issue was first reported on these boards ten years ago under the same subject line. There was a link in that thread to a troubleshoot article that is no longer available on the hp site. One line in the "solution message" from 2013 was to wipe off the foil areas on the cartridge with a damp lint free cloth. That did not fix the problem.
I understand the problem may relate to certain OEM HP cartridges that were made by a different vendor and have proven to be faulty. The cartridge I tried to install is a HP 901, CC653A. It is new, not refilled, and was wrapped in original HP foil that I still have. The expiration date printed on the cartridge is 2023/09/19. The serial number is 737581710296331
I am planning to replace this printer soon and wanted to use up my remaining cartriddges, all original HP 901s, before I did so. The one I tried to install is my last black one.
I want HP to replace this non-functioning cartridge with a new one of the same type. Please respond to acknowledge this message and my request.
