Hi @rocknroll,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you are experiencing cartridge problems with your HP Officejet 5255 printer, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.

  • Check the ink levels: Make sure that the ink cartridges have enough ink. Open the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device, click on your printer, and then click on "Supply Levels" to check the ink levels. If the ink levels are low, replace the cartridges.
  • Remove and reinsert the cartridges: Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Open the cartridge access door, and then remove the cartridges. Check for any visible damage, and then reinsert the cartridges. Close the cartridge access door, and then turn on the printer.
  • Clean the cartridges: Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Open the cartridge access door, and then remove the cartridges. Use a lint-free cloth to gently clean the electrical contacts on the cartridges and inside the printer. Reinsert the cartridges, close the cartridge access door, and then turn on the printer.
  • Reset the printer: Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for 60 seconds, and then plug the printer back in and turn it on.
  • Update the printer firmware: Go to the HP website, search for your printer model, and then download and install the latest firmware for your printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I never received notification of your reply but had already tried ALL of your suggestions prior to responding to your answer. Finally had to call HP and got it resolved but this HP printer have been nothing but headaches for me ever since i purchased it.

Additionally, I'm on the HP Ink program and STILL GET CHARGED for paper even when it prints or DOESN'T accurately.

Absolute waste of money
