Using Mac OS Sequoia 15.0.01 - recently changed colour print cartridge & printer no longer prints in colour - black print quality is fine. I've done the following checks: 1) aligned print heads - multiple times 2) Cleaned printheads to level 3 cleaning at least 5 times - still no colour. 3) even used clean smear utility - no change 4) deleted printer & re-added printer checked print driver & firmware up to date. In desperate need of help before sending the printer to neverland.

Hi @cb123456789
Welcome to the HP support community.
It sounds like you've already done quite a bit of troubleshooting with your HP OfficeJet 5740. Here are some additional steps you can try to resolve the color printing issue:
1. Check Color Cartridge Installation
- Make sure the color cartridge is installed correctly and securely.
- Remove the cartridge and inspect it for any protective tape or packaging that might not have been removed.
2. Inspect the Color Cartridge
- Check if the color cartridge is damaged or dried out. Sometimes, new cartridges can be defective.
- If you have another color cartridge (even if it's a different brand), try installing it to see if it resolves the issue.
3. Reset the Printer
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 5-10 minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes reset internal settings.
4. Print a Test Page
- Print a test page directly from the printer's control panel. This can help determine if the issue is with the computer's settings or the printer itself.
5. Check Print Settings
- When printing from your Mac, ensure that the print settings are configured for color printing:
- In the print dialog, check the Color Options and make sure it's set to "Color" instead of "Grayscale."
6. Try Different Applications
- Attempt printing from different applications (e.g., Preview, Word, etc.) to see if the issue persists across all software.
7. Reinstall Printer Drivers
- Although you mentioned checking drivers, it may help to completely uninstall and then reinstall the printer drivers:
- Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, remove the printer, and then reinstall using the latest drivers from the HP website. Click here
8. Check for macOS Updates
- Make sure your macOS is up to date. Sometimes compatibility issues can arise from outdated operating systems
I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
