I have bought three HP OfficeJet 6978 printers in the past three years with the most recent being 6 months ago and I am having the same problem again. I have replaced all of my inkjet, cleaned the printheads and tried to align, but it won't let me align because it says that it cannot scan the page. I have also checked each cartridge to make sure that the vents, whatever you call them, are clear. In addition, I have been reading these endless pages of dialogue trying to figure this out, but I am officially worn down. I used to LOVE HP, but I am so exasperated right now. I can't do my job without a functioning printer. Is anyone listening? Because this printer is about to become a frisbee.

Hi@Diana65,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
I appreciate your efforts in trying to resolve this issue by performing the necessary troubleshooting steps.
Have you tried using an alternate set of color ink cartridges?
Check the ink levels and replace any empty or low ink cartridges.
Check for the HP Officejet 6950/6960/Pro 6960/Pro 6970 All-in-One Printer series Firmware Update
As you have already cleaned the printhead from the printer screen, perform step 9 from this document - Black or Color Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues
Print a print quality page to check the results.
The printhead in this printer is non-removable.
If the issue persists, please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.
If the printer is out of warranty, I suggest you upgrade the printer. You may visit Hp Store to check the available printers.
