HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One Printer - N911g
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My printer model is slightly different, and I am running Windows 10, but I am having the same problem with HP 951XL-Z10 ink cartridges as in the following thread:

Please send me the full reset instructions that would solve this issue for my printer.  Thank you.

When I was 24 and in the market for auto insurance, Allstate wouldn't insure me because I had a single simple speeding ticket and was under 25.  I thought that was outrageous and swore never to buy Allstate insurance, and 50 years later have never done so.

HP implements "cartridge protection" firmware in their printers/cartridges, claiming that it is to protect against inferior clone cartridges, but the transparent reason is to protect their near-monopoly on print cartridges.  What's more, they take full advantage of this "feature", charging 3 times or more what their ink cartridge competitors charge - their greed is despicable.  Over around 8 years of service, my HP printer has performed well and accepted clone cartridges, which have saved me thousands of dollars and rarely had any problem.  But HP's firmware upgrades over the past several years have cracked down on use of non-HP cartridges.  The latest twist, however, is that a brand new genuine HP cartridge won't work in my printer.  I'm done.  I am not going to jump through hoops to get my aging printer to work, but only with HP genuine cartridges.  I will never buy another HP printer!
