I've had an HP Officejet Pro 6970 for some years. No problems. Yesterday the print was faint and when I looked at the cartridge volumes, they were all low, except for he black, So, I put in new colour cartridges in and I got a message saying that the cartridges were too old? I tried to do a print anyway to see what would happen. Nothing happened.
I looked at the packaging of the new Cartridges and found dates on them:
Magenta Feb 2024
Yellow Feb 2021
Cyan Feb 2024
So since the Yellow was the oldest cartridge, I put back the Yellow that I had taken out but replaced the Magenta and Cyan with the new ones. The message disappeared and all looked normal. However, when I did print the printer produced a completely blank sheet! So I then did a print with the' Black Only' setting and still only a blank sheet of paper was produced?
What should I do to get a print?

Some older HP cartridges are no longer accepted in various printer due to firmware changes. Your 6970 may be one of them according to this document If your printer was made before Dec 1, 2016. If your printer was made after that date then do not update any 6970 firmware.

Verify your ink is genuine: To check if an HP ink cartridge is genuine, look for a security label on the cartridge, scan the QR code on the label with your phone, and then go to HP's website hp.com/go/ok to verify the serial number on the label; if the label appears tampered or the serial number doesn't validate, the cartridge is likely not genuine.
