Hello. I recently bought an HP Officejet Pro 7720, and this is the first time I’m changing the cartridges. I bought a third-party cartridge because the originals are almost 3x the price, but it looks like the printer’s firmware detected and blocked it. It feels unfair to block users' choices and then gauge the price. Is there any way to bypass this and make it work? Thank you for your help!

Welcome to the HP English Community --

Sorry, it won't work.

There is no legal way to bypass the printer's built-in protection against non-HP chipped cartridges.

That means the cartridges used in the printer -- remanufactured, used, or new -- must have an embedded HP chip.

Datasheet - HP OfficeJet Pro 7720

Excerpted

This printer is intended to work only with cartridges that have a
new or reused HP chip, and it uses dynamic security measures to
block cartridges using a non-HP chip. Periodic firmware updates
will maintain the effectiveness of these measures and block
cartridges that previously worked. A reused HP chip enables the
use of reused, remanufactured, and refilled cartridges. More at:

You need to ask for a support from the third-party ink manufacturer.
